I think what we know is Larry bought himself 2 more years of cover with putting Buster in the chair. If the organization relies on Buster to lead and inspire others then they're probably in good shape. Whether or not he has the organizational and delegation skills necessary to be a traditional PBO remains to be seen
Start with a positive mindset and believe in Buster Posey. He will surround himself with quality people. He graduated from Florida State with a degree in economics. He was the unquestioned face of the franchise for his entire career. Come on, man.
First thoughts from the press conference. Buster is not a wordy guy. Public speaking isnt necessarily his thing. That doesn't mean he wont be successful, just an observation.
Apparently Pete Putila is a real human being, who is now unemployed.
The hiring of the GM I think is what is going to determine success.
Greg Johnson...OMG. What a horrible match for a public facing business. His testiness with John Shea was hilarious. Dude also reminded me of Scrooge and that Xmas isn't that far away. So there is that.
I’m still sure Greg Johnson never wanted to be at that position, never prepped for it and hates every second. But after the Baer fallout the faceless ownership needed someone and as the son of the largest shareholder, it had to be him
Sure. But maybe he takes a media relations class or some coaching? The out of the gate hostility by Greg towards the press is an indication that the Johnsons probably shouldn’t be in the entertainment business.
Think of it from his perspective: All his family has ever wanted is to give a bunch of political contributions to the worst people in the world, and the media won't stop telling people about it! I'd be annoyed too.
I don’t think Putila is unemployed quite yet. He’s just uh, being moved…laterally? Into a new, very important (but as of yet undefined) position within the organization. So I mean, yeah, technically jobless BUT not unemployed. Right?
It’s all very exciting but I’m really more interested in seeing who Posey surrounds himself with to handle all the pesky details.
Yeah, the Giants still have Putila under contract and they're going to try to find a different role for him. Whether he will accept that role (which is certainly a demotion, though no one is using that word) is still an open question to me, at least, since I haven't heard about anyone asking him about it.

This is a cogent point. Who are those media people, anyways?
Agreed! He should for sure, but probably too rich and too arrogant to think he needs to improve on anything
Oh, and I 100% agree, it’ll all depend on who the GM is
