As for Estrada, his offensive performance warranted a demotion. The fact that the team then called up a different defense-first MI to start over Luciano isn't great, but to me that was a pretty normal baseball move.
If the treatment of players under Farhan got so bad that it was common knowledge throughout MLB (I mean, was it?), then having a guy like Buster in a leadership role certainly can’t hurt. Regarding what it’s gonna take to make the Giants competitive, I think that’s a topic for another column Doug!
