At some point this season, if the Giants want to be more than a mediocre team that collapses as soon as it gets within spitting distance of .500, they have to play well on the road.
Watching this team brings one to the inevitable conclusion that approximately half the lineup is made up of guys who are just not-so-hot Major Leaguers. Matos, Conforto, Flores (sorry, Wilmer), Yaz (SO sorry, Yaz), Thairo (?), Soler (!), and the next ML roster retread Z cleverly filches off the DFA wire.
They're easy outs. They have a blowout game once every couple weeks, we get our hopes up, but then they revert to their not-so-hot selves, to once again stomp hope out of our beat-up hearts. It's sad, Maestro.
(But their pitchers are good! Yay, Hayden Birdsong!! The Bird 2.0!!!)
The Giants as currently constructed are a vaguely playoff-shaped baseball enterprise. Mob Belvin seems to be getting some production from the young kids but why are we not more pissed about Soler? He has been cold poop soup for months with few contributions other than the occasional dinger. Yaz needs to stop striking out though he at least provides ++ defense.
Fitz is a dinger God the last couple series and the rotation is about to get well....... Could we see a run? I want to believe!!
